The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It was founded in 1960 with the goals of performing applied research in the area of power systems, offering technical assistance to the power industry, and promoting the advancement of homegrown innovations.
Several laboratories at the institute carry out research in a number of fields, including high voltage engineering, power system dynamics and control, power electronics and drives, energy management, and testing and certification of electrical equipment. The power sector can also take advantage of testing, calibration, and consulting services from CPRI.
The CPRI collaborates with numerous national and international organisations and has taken part in numerous significant power systems-related research and development initiatives.
