Founded in 1899, the top college in our list of Best Colleges for Political Science in DU is Hindu College, which is one of the most popular and oldest colleges in India. The college has a robust curriculum and one of the best faculties in India on Political Science. In Bachelor, the Department of Political Science offers two programmes: B.A. with Honours and B.A. in Political Science.

The college provides a unique learning experience through POLSO – the Political Science Society comprises all the students of the Department, POLITY – the annual fest of the department conducted by POLSO and Siyasat – the in-house annual magazine published by POLSO. 

Being a college of Delhi University, a student learns far more outside the classroom – in conferences, seminars and GDs – than she learns in the classrooms. As a result, the college has produced a plethora of stalwarts in public policy, political science and more. The college also has eminent faculties. To get into any B.A. programme of the college, you need to appear for the Combined University Entrance Test (CUET). The cut-off for both programmes is quite high and one needs to score above 98% to get into.

3) Lady Shri Ram College for Women

Abbreviated as LSR, the Lady Shri Ram College for Women is a pioneer institution known for empowering women and is the third entry in the Best Colleges for Political Science in DU list. It boasts its academic excellence and is ranked 9th in the NIRF ranking for Colleges. It also offers a B.A.(Hons.) Programme in Political Science as well as B.A. in Political Science. 

The feature that distinguishes LSR from other colleges is its emphasis on extracurricular activities as a medium for learning. It organises many cultural events, workshops, seminars, conferences etc. to help boost the practical understanding of political concepts and politics in general. 

Established in 1956, along with the college itself, the Department of Political Science in LSR provides an enriching experience to the students. The department has its own student union and its own publication – Sabab. The journal encourages critical thinking and provides a way for aspiring political scientists to publish their writings and propagate their ideas.

4) Kirori Mal College

Established in 1954, Kirori Mal College, popularly known as KMC, is the fourth among the Best Colleges for Political Science in DU and a top college affiliated with the University of Delhi. It has a lively campus life, with numerous societies and clubs that help in the holistic development of a student’s personality. 

KMC is a top-rated college of Delhi University, with NIRF ranking it as number 9th all over India. The college also encourages students to actively participate in seminars, conferences and debates that are conducted at the campus, as well as pursue internships at various institutions such as NITI Aayog, Think Tanks, Ministries etc. 

Political Science in KMC is taught by La Politique Department of Political Science. The department not only focuses on classroom studies but also helps develop an overall understanding of political concepts. For this, the Department organises the Frank Thakur Das (A doyen of political science and a former faculty at KMC) memorial lecture and the Department Fest Politicana annually. Apart from this, various debates and conferences on various topics relating to political science are organised by the department. The department also has its annual magazine Awaaz, which is released at the end of each annual session.

5) Sri Venkateswara College

Established in 1961, the fifth entry in the Best Colleges for Political Science in DU list – Sri Venkateswara College, commonly known as Venky College, is a prestigious college affiliated with the University of Delhi and located in South Delhi. The college is known for its academic excellence and is ranked 13th best college all over India. The college is especially known for its courses in Arts.

The Department of Political Science, Sri Venkateswara College was established in 1974 and provides a B.A. and B.A. (Hons) in Political Science as well as an M.A. in Political Science. Gaining a thorough understanding of the broad field of political science, including its theoretical, conceptual, and empirical components is the main aim of the department. It offers the students the conceptual understanding they need to engage in further specialised courses and research projects.

6) Deshbandhu College

7) Ramjas College

Established in 1917, the seventh entry in our list of Best Colleges for Political Science in DU – Ramjas College has been providing B.A. and B.A. (Hons) in Political Science. A student of Political Science at Ramjas College gets insight into a wide range of topics, including political theory, comparative political systems, International relations, Indian politics and polity, international politics, World Order and the administrative state.

The Department of Political Science at Ramjas College has its own society – Spartacus that organises cultural and academic events including Friday seminars, debates, lectures, and so on. The society is also responsible for the publication of the department’s annual magazine. 

8) Daulat Ram College

Established in 1960, the Daulat Ram College, popularly abbreviated as DRC, is one of the best colleges of Delhi University and the country.
