About DDA
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is a full government body that undertakes the planning and development of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi in India. Promoting and ensuring Delhi’s growth in accordance with a master plan is the DDA’s main goal. For the development of Delhi, DDA takes on a variety of projects, including the development of parks and recreational spaces, residential and commercial complex buildings, and the implementation of urban regeneration initiatives.
Established in 1957, the Delhi Development Authority is a planning and development agency of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It derives its powers from the Delhi Development Act of 1957. DDA is tasked with the city’s urban planning and updating its infrastructure as per requirements. The body comprehensively deals with the following:
- Land Acquisition: Land Acquisition is one of the DDA’s most important jobs. The authority acquires land to develop its various projects, such as roads, parks, housing, etc. A large area of land is required for all such projects.
- Urban Planning. Perhaps the most comprehensive task of the DDA is to come up with long-term and short-term plans for the overall development of Delhi. Such plans help maintain the balance between residential, commercial, shopping, sports and other essential parts of the city. The first master plan created by DDA was back in 1962. Urban Planning is perhaps the most important role of DDA.
- DDA also helps in maintaining greenery in the city. It constructs parks, green belts and open spaces around residential and commercial areas to avoid congestion and reduce pollution.
- One of the most important tasks of the DDA is to develop housing localities. The authority, from time to time, constructs houses for people belonging to various income levels. These are divided into Economically weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG). People are invited to place bids before the allotment, which is typically done based on the Lottery System, i.e., the properties are randomly allotted to the bidders.
- Infrastructure Development is also an important part of the function of DDA. It develops the infrastructure required by the capital to function. This includes roads, parks, rehabilitation centres, recreational spaces, overbridges, underpasses, cycle lanes, sports complexes, skywalks, community centres, golf courses, public toilets, amphitheatres and much more. It also promotes and supports horticulture and provides infrastructure for it in semi-urban areas.
- It also helps maintain cleanliness and provides infrastructure for waste management.
- Another important function of DDA is regulatory. The authority regulates and formulates rules regarding the construction of buildings and other structures. Zoning rules further classify what structures are permitted within a particular area.
DDA is a prestigious organization overlooking the development of our national Capital. Thus, DDA Recruitment 2023 provides an opportunity to work with the best planners in the country. We, therefore, highly recommend you apply for the 687 posts in DDA Recruitment 2023 to grow your career.
