Gujarat TAT Mains 2023 Admit Card: About Gujarat TAT

Gujarat Teacher’s Aptitude Test is a competitive exam for the jobs of teachers in Gujarat’s government schools. The Gujarat State Examination Board (GSEB) is responsible for the administration of the TAT exam.

The Candidates who pass the TAT Exam are issued a TAT Certificate by the Government of Gujrat’s State Examination Board. The TAT Exam Certificate expires in 5 years. Before the expiration, the candidates have to apply and get selected for any post of teacher.

The Gujarat TAT Exam is conducted in two steps: Preliminary and Mains. Depending on the subject they desire to teach, the exam evaluates candidates’ aptitude and expertise in various areas.

Gujarat TAT Prelims

The Gujarat TAT Preliminary exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1 consists of 100 questions. Each question carries 1 mark and each wrong answer has a negative of 0.25 marks. The Preliminary exam is conducted in three languages: English, Hindi and Gujarati. The division of marks based on the topics is given below:

Paper 2 consists of questions on the subject that the candidate has opted for. Paper 2 consists of 100 questions and each question carries 1 mark with a negative marking of 0.25 numbers per wrong answer. The exam is conducted in Gujarati, English and Hindi. 

Gujarat TAT Mains

The Gujarat TAT Mains Exam is held in descriptive format. It consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 consists of Report Writing, A Report writing on Image (Visual Information) and a Formal Speech. Paper 2 consists of questions to be answered in a descriptive manner. 

About GSEB

Gujarat State Education Board, also known as Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is a Government of Gujarat entity responsible for managing education and all its aspects in the state. It is the authority that decides on all matters relating to secondary and higher education in Gujarat. It has a plethora of functions, some of which are listed below:

  1. One of the main functions of the board is to develop a curriculum for secondary and higher education and update it each year according to the needs.
  2. Another major function of the board is to conduct various examinations for recruitment of the people and admission of students (for higher education). The board sets the paper, decides the schedule and exam centres, prepares the merit lists and publishes the results.
  3. The board addresses the grievances of the candidates and applicants to ensure that the process followed is fair and transparent.
  4. It advises the Government of Gujarat on policy issues regarding secondary and Higher Education in the state
  5. The board, before appointing teachers selected through its various selection tests and before they are assigned their duties, provides training to them and ensures quality standards of education are met
