JEE Advanced Results 2023: About IIT JEE

IIT JEE, short for the Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination, is one of the most well-known and challenging entrance exams in the nation. It is used for admission to the various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other renowned engineering colleges’ undergraduate engineering courses.

The IIT JEE has two levels: JEE Advanced and JEE Main. After passing JEE Main, those who meet the requirements can apply for JEE Advanced. JEE Main and JEE Advanced are alternately administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and an IIT. While JEE Advanced includes objective-type questions and questions with single-digit integer solutions, JEE Main includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and questions based on numerical values. It is discussed in detail below:

JEE Main

  1. Conducted two times each year in January and April
  2. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019. Before that, it was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
  3. It was previously known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) until 2013. AIEEE was introduced in 2002 by the Government of India for admissions into NITs, IIITs and other Government Engineering Colleges.
  4. Earlier, a candidate could apply both for AIEEE and IIT JEE. However, since 2013, only students qualifying for IIT Main can apply for IITs through IIT Advanced.
  5. The exam is conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Urdu, Gujarati, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada and Assamese.
  6. The exam is used by numerous colleges, including Private Colleges, except NITs, IIITs and other Government Engineering Colleges as their sole criteria for admission.

JEE Advanced

  1. It was previously known simply as IIT JEE
  2. It is conducted by seven IITs on rotation. These IITs are IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kharagpur.
  3. The exam is conducted only in English and Hindi.
  4. The exam consists of two papers of three hours each. The total number of questions is 54. All questions are compulsory.
  5. Paper 1 consists of 3 sections: MCQs with a single correct option, questions with a single correct option and questions with numerical value as answers.
  6. Paper 2 consists of MCQs with one or more correct answers, questions with numerical value as answers and questions with single-digit answers.
