OSSSC released a notification on 24/03/2023 inviting online applications for a Combined Recruitment Examination for the posts of Junior Assistant and Panchayat Executive Officer in various districts under the Government of Odisha. The number of vacancies for Junior Assistant is 3099 and for Panchayat Executive Officer is 2297.
However, the Government of Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Department had sanctioned another 1466 posts of Junior Assistants under various districts. This, along with a few other corrections, resulted in the total number of posts of Junior Assistants to 4565. However, the rules and other processes of selection of suitable candidates remained unchanged.
The JA & PEO OSSSC Admit Card will be essential for a candidate to appear in the exam.

A candidate will be requiring his/her application/registration number and date of birth to get the admit card. Once the admit card is downloaded, a candidate needs to read the rules and instructions carefully before appearing for the exam. The authorities reserve the right to debar any candidate if he/she breaks any rule or does not abide by the instructions.

PEO is essential to the Panchayat’s planning and execution of development initiatives and programmes, ensuring that they are in line with the requirements and priorities of the area. In order to facilitate coordination and collaboration for efficient governance and service delivery, the PEO serves as a point of contact between the Panchayat and several government departments.
Junior Assistant: A Junior Assistant is an important post within a district. The management of numerous administrative duties and responsibilities pertaining to the establishment division of the district administration is often connected with this post.
A typical JA is in charge of keeping track of and updating documents pertaining to personnel matters, including employee files, service documents, transfers, promotions, and leave applications. The junior assistant is also in charge of the establishment section’s correspondence and communication. Writing letters, memoranda, and other official communications is part of this process, along with keeping track of incoming and outgoing correspondence in registers and files.
The Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission, also known as OSSSC is a government organisation in the Indian state of Odisha that is in charge of holding recruitment exams and choosing candidates for a range of subordinate positions in various departments and organisations that fall under the purview of the Odisha government.
The OSSSC has many responsibilities such as conducting competitive exams to hire people for various posts such as Junior Assistant, Junior Clerk, Panchayat Executive Officer, Junior Stenographer, Revenue Inspector, Village Agricultural Worker, etc. It is also responsible for taking disciplinary actions against the officers.
