The responsible departments carry out the final selection and posting of the chosen applicants in compliance with the laws and regulations.

It also has the following tasks:

  1. The main task of the PSSSB is to formulate a policy for the free and transparent conduct of the entrance test. It also ensures that the process is smoothly conducted by the test centres.
  2. Ensuring compliance with government policies regarding reservation, relaxation of age limit, etc. which concern the recruitment of candidates for jobs.
  3. It creates and maintains the database of prospective candidates for the various exams it conducts
  4. It is also responsible for setting the exams in a manner that the best candidates are allowed to serve the government and the people of Punjab.
  5. It ensures that the process of selection is fair and transparent, along with ensuring that the grievances of the candidates are met timely so that they don’t impact their careers.
  6. The PSSSB creates the merit list of meritorious students after the answer keys are published. It also ensures that the merit list is according to the reservation provided to backward classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
  7. The PSSSB is tasked with conducting interviews for the posts that require interview rounds as the last part of the selection process.

The Punjab Subordinate Service Selection Board is an essential part of the Punjab Government of Punjab.
